Clinical Research Trials in GA

Geographic Atrophy trials actively recruiting

The following trials are actively recruiting people with Geographic Atrophy and are listed with their unique study identifier numbers. You can share the study identifier number with your retina specialist or search for more information using the number at clinicaltrials.gov.

Proxima A (NCT02479386) and Proxima B (NCT02399072): These two epidemiologic studies (research of disease origin, pattern, and spread) are being conducted without providing treatment in order to better understand relationships between visual function and the progression (worsening) of geographic atrophy (GA) due to age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

The study visits for Proxima A are scheduled to occur every 6 months for a study period of up to 48 months. For Proxima B, the study visits are scheduled to occur every 6 months for a study period of up to 60 months. Together these studies will enroll approximately 560 patients (360 in Proxima A and 200 in Proxima B) in approximately 140 sites globally.
